ON 04/29/20 AT APPROXIMATELY 1040 HOURS, I WAS DISPATCHED TO THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH GRIFFITH AVENUE AND AVOCADO STREET IN CRYSTAL RIVER, IN REFERENCE TO A SUBJECT ATTEMPTING TO ENTER CITRUS COUNTY SCHOOL BUS 2012-02 AT A SCHOOL BUS FOOD DISTRIBUTION CENTER.

UPON ARRIVAL, SCHOOL RESOURCE DEPUTY RODRIGUEZ/0301 HAD ALREADY LOCATED THE SUBJECT, LATER IDENTIFIED AS THE DEFENDANT, ANTHONY EDWARDS. THE DEFENDANT WAS WALKING DOWN GRIFFITH AVENUE AND NOT LISTENING TO COMMANDS.

UPON MY ARRIVAL, THE DEFENDANT WAS STILL ATTEMPTING TO WALK AWAY AND WAS NOT LISTENING. AT THAT TIME, THE DEFENDANT WAS PLACED IN HANDCUFFS (DOUBLE LOCKED) BEHIND HIS BACK. I THEN MADE CONTACT WITH THE TWO CITRUS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT WORKERS WHO WERE INSIDE THE AFOREMENTIONED SCHOOL BUS DURING THE INCIDENT. THE FIRST WORKER STATED THAT THE DEFENDANT APPROACHED THE BACK OF THE SCHOOL BUS WHERE HE ASKED HER WHY SHE WAS IN THE BUS, WHICH SHE EXPLAINED TO HIM. SHE FURTHER STATED THAT THE DEFENDANT ASKED FOR A DRINK AND SHE TOLD HIM SHE COULD NOT GIVE HIM ONE. SHE ADVISED THE DEFENDANT THEN RAN UP TO THE BACK OF THE SCHOOL BUS, REACHED INTO THE OPEN BACK DOOR AND ATTEMPTED TO GET INTO THE COOLER THAT WAS LOCATED IN THE BACK OF THE SCHOOL BUS. SHE STATED SHE IS UNSURE IF THE DEFENDANT GOT INTO THE COOLER, DUE TO HER BEING IN THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL BUS. SHE STATED THE SECOND WORKER WAS NEAR THE COOLER AND COULD TELL ME MORE. THE WORKER ADVISED SHE THEN GOT ON THE SCHOOL RADIO AND ASKED FOR THE SCHOOL’S SCHOOL RESOURCE DEPUTY.

I THEN MADE CONTACT WITH THE SECOND WORKER, WHO ADVISED THAT THE DEFENDANT CAME UP TO THE BACK OF THE SCHOOL BUS AND ASKED THEM WHY THEY WERE THERE. HE THEN ASKED IF HE COULD HAVE A DRINK AND WAS INFORMED NO. THE WORKER ADVISED THE DEFENDANT THEN CAME TO THE BACK OF THE SCHOOL BUS WHERE HE REACHED INTO THE BUS AND ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE COOLER. SHE STATED THE DEFENDANT DID GET THE COOLER OPEN, HOWEVER, SHE SHUT THE LID SO HE COULD NOT GET ANYTHING OUT.

BOTH WORKERS ADVISED THE DEFENDANT THEN LEFT, WENT TO A NEARBY YARD AND STAYED IN THE AREA UNTIL DEPUTY RODRIGUEZ ARRIVED ON SCENE. I MADE CONTACT WITH THE DEFENDANT AND READ HIS MIRANDA RIGHTS TO HIM, AT WHICH TIME HE AGREED TO SPEAK WITH ME. THE DEFENDANT DID ADMIT TO WALKING TO THE REAR OF THE SCHOOL BUS AND ASKING FOR A DRINK, AND ALSO ADMITTED TO PEEKING INSIDE THE COOLER ON THE SCHOOL BUS.

THE DEFENDANT WAS PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR ONE COUNT OF BURGLARY TO AN OCCUPIED CONVEYANCE AND ONE COUNT OF DISRUPTING A SCHOOL FUNCTION, DUE TO THIS BEING A SCHOOL DISTRIBUTION CENTER. THE DEFENDANT WAS THEN TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR BOOKING AND PROCESSING.

THE DEFENDANT’S BOND SET AT $15,000.00 FOR THE CHARGE OF BURGLARY TO AN OCCUPIED CONVEYANCE

THE DEFENDANT’S BOND SET AT $500.00 FOR THE CHARGE OF DISRUPTING A SCHOOL FUNCTION FOR A TOTAL BOND OF $15,500.00.
